The city of Nice has always been an attraction for artists, since many years ago until now Nice is a cultural center. The Théatre de Nice is on the Promenade des Arts and was inaugurated in the 1960s, today the music concerts are played here as well as the dance performances. The Opéra de Nice is also another cultural venue, the season runs from November to April, and is located in 4-6 rue St-Francois-de-Paule, www.opera-nice.org.

Promenade des Anglais is probably the best area in Nice, there are plenty of bars and clubs, and if you like the Casino there's one here the Cabaret du Casino Ruhl, (tel. 04-97-03-12-22), many elegant hotels and restaurants are also in this area. Going to the movies is also a good option to entertain your nights in Nice, the Rialto and Mercury cinema have the best atmosphere by far.

There are many festivals and carnivals all year in Nice, two of the most important are: The Carnival of Nice and the Jazz Festival, and some others are:

« Carnival de Nice, a very traditional and colourful carnival at the end of winter, with floats decorated with fresh flowers and fireworks at night.

« Nice Jazz Festival, very famous jazz musicians have visited Nice and participated in this Festival.

« Castellada Festival, takes place in the Colline du Château and celebrates the summer season, from july to september.
