Saint Tropez Travel Guide

History of Saint Tropez

It all starts with a legend, the legend that actually gives the name to the town. It is believed that Saint Tropez, who was first Caius Silvius Torpetius, a roman officer from Neroīs Court, turned into Christianity by Saint Paul himself. Because of this, Neroīs rage was so great that he got Tropezīs head cut off and his body put in a boat together with a dog and a rooster.

The boat drifted away all the way to Arno River and finally reached Saint-Tropez shores. Saint-Tropez is honored as a martyr of Christianity.
