La Sainte-Chapelle

King Louis IX is the one responsible for the creation of this architectonical beauty. A must for whoever is traveling through Paris, it is a fact that most of what can be seen now is a re-creation but most of the original windows are still kept intact.

It is precisely the glass-stained windows that stand for the true beauty of the interiors of the Chapel. The Chapel is surrounded by the Ile de la Citè and the Palace of Justice.

The Holy Chapel (in English) was consecrated in 1248 and it is a beautiful representation of the Rayonnat period architecture during the Gothic period. It is not clearly known when the chapel was built but it is believed it was sometime before the first half of the 13th century.
