Curiosities of Louvre Museum

  1. The Louvre is the largest museum in the world, if you looked at every piece of art in the Louvre for only 30 seconds, and did this continuously round the clock, 24/7 without a break it would take you 100 days to see everything.

  2. It has a MacDonalds in it.

  3. Initially built as a military fortress in the 13th Century, the Louvre was a royal palace for numerous years during the 16th century before becoming a museum in 1793.

  5. Louvre museum comprises of four wings, with each having a distinct use. The center of the museum is called Carosel de Louvre. It is also the area where the American architect Im Peiís glass pyramid stands. It was built in the 1990s and has become one of the spots where a large number of visitors are gathered. During World War II the museum removed most of the art and hid valuable pieces

  6. The Louvre holds Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting, the Mona Lisa. In 1793, the Louvre was opened as a public museum, and French painter Jacques-Louis David was appointed head of the commission to administer it.
